The Authentic Brazilian Rice is a long grain, Type 1 Rice that cooks up beautifully. Rice together with beans forms the main diet of Brazil. We tend not to eat plain rice but we fry it first it with salt, garlic and onion.
The Authentic Brazilian way to cook Rice:
2 cups of the Authentic Brazilian Rice
4 cups of boiled water
1 garlic clove chopped
1 medium onion chopped
How to prepare:
Use a saucepan with a lid, on a medium heat gently fry the garlic and onion until golden. Next add the Authentic Brazilian rice and fry for 30 seconds, then add the boiled water and salt. Put the lid on and leave it to cook in low heat for approximately 20 minutes or until all the water has evaporated. When the rice is dry gently cooked for a further 10 minutes, then serve with your choice of meat or vegetables.
